So Inspired…Words to Live By

stairs

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. ---Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I love quotes.   I can easily get lost in the eloquence of the great writers and thinkers of all time.  An inspiring quote, phrase or speech can send shivers up my spine.  I’ve often thought I’d like to share more quotes on my blog…but the days pass and it doesn’t happen.  So, this was just the kick-in-the-pants I needed.  Tracey Buxton adds her “words to live by” quotes every weekend on her blog, Notes from a Cottage Industry (yep, it’s over there on my “blogs I love” list)…and has inspired me to do the same.

What quotes are meaningful to you?

To the Rescue

Police 001

It’s that time of year again.  No, I’m not talking about spring…although I can’t wait for that!  I’m actually talking about all the scrapbooking sales.  Everyone is clearing out the old before all the new designs arrive.  So…I did a little on-line shopping at Memory Works and found some just-too-cute-to-pass-up items like this To the Rescue paper, stickers and die-cuts from Three Bugs in a Rug.  It has both fire fighter and policeman papers and stickers.  Love it!

Police 002 Police 003 Police 004 Police 005 Police 006 Police 007

So, that’s the policeman scrapbook and here’s the fire fighter one….

The cover on this one says “A Trip to the Station”.   The little card in the center pages says “Junior Fire Fighter Stats”.  It’s got room to write a name, height, weight, birthday, favorite color and today’s date.  What an adorable way to document the day.

Oh, and there also room on the cover of each of the scrapbooks to include a name!  And isn’t that little firehouse dog just too adorable?  Fun, fun, fun!

I’ve been on a bit of a supplies buying spree lately.  I hit a closeout sale today and I have another box of goodies arriving next week.  SO….check back to see what shows up next.  Hint?  I’m ready to get back to some girly stuff!  (I stocked up on all things PINK the other day!)   :)

P.S.  If you haven’t already, you might want to subscribe to my feed (above) and become a fan of my Facebook page (in the sidebar) so you don’t miss the new goodies!

Weight Loss Magic

Oh, if only it were magic!  I didn’t do the New Year’s Resolution thing this year…but like most years, I vowed to start eating better and of course, exercise more.  I use the term “more” loosely because saying MORE would indicate that I am increasing the amount of exercise and what I really mean is START exercising.

Anyway,  as you may remember, I gave up pop (soda) last fall and that was my first step towards taking better care of myself.  As of Jan. 1, I gave up chocolate.  I know you may be gasping….but I have actually lived to tell the tale.  The amazing part is that it wasn’t really that hard.  After the initial shock to the system it’s not that big of a temptation anymore.

I’ve also been being careful with what I eat…especially portion control.  So far it’s going pretty well.  On days when I end up eating a lot of sweets or heavy meals I can actually FEEL it in my body.  That bloat.  The sluggishness.  The queasy stomach.  It definitely makes getting back on the wagon a lot easier.

So far I’ve lost enough weight/inches to make my jeans feel baggy.  Oh…what a great feeling.  SO much better than fleeting satisfaction of a Snickers bar!!!

My girls came home this weekend!  Spring break.  I know…it’s too early for spring break but we’re on the trimester schedule so we’re between winter and spring terms.  Two weeks!  I, of course, still have to work.   Most of it anyway.  But what a great feeling…2/3 of the way through the school year!  Yippee!  Unfortunately for me, the spring term is a bit of a nightmare.  Big event coming up.  But it makes the days go fast.  Too fast!

Even with the girls home, I still got some scrapbooking done.   Just because they’re home…doesn’t mean they’re HOME!  So many friends to catch up with after all.

I’m not going to post all the pictures…you can see them in my Etsy shop or on my Flickr photostream….but here are a few covers.

Hope you had a great weekend and I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Think SPRING!  (Kinda hard to do since there is snow falling as I write this…but I know it will get here….eventually!)

Waiting for Spring

Lucky Sun

Lucky LOVES sunshine!  He gets that from me.   He’s waiting for green grass to run in and squirrels to chase.  I probably won’t be chasing squirrels any time soon but I can’t wait for the green grass and warm sunshine.   And to be able to open my windows and let in a fresh breeze!  We’re supposed to be getting more snow tomorrow but at this point in the season at least there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!  Plus, today there is SUNSHINE and we’ve had so little of that lately so I am thrilled….as is Lucky!

Sunshine also motivates me to get something (anything!) done.  I swear my energy level is powered entirely by solar energy.  Totally. Completely.   And if I’m cold…forget it!  Obviously I need to move somewhere tropical!  I’d be so much more productive….maybe!  :)

Speaking of being productive.  Time to get back to scrapbooking.   Which reminds me….this little guy made its way to my Etsy shop since we last spoke.  Go check him out…

What a Zoo 001

Okay, now I really need to get busy!   Enjoy the sunshine if you’re lucky enough to have some today!
