the beginning.

It’s been awhile. You probably thought I fell off the face of this earth…but alas, I did not. I just needed a little break to deal with other things in my life.
I spent most of February house-sitting for a friend, thinking it was perfect timing. Winter in Illinois. Her house is 4 minutes from where I work. Mine is 65 minutes. I assumed I’d be avoiding many days of icy roads. As it turned out we only had 2 days of snow during the entire time…and both of those times the snow disappeared almost as quickly as it came. But it was still a nice break from my usual daily commute.
Staying somewhere else also made scrapbooking a challenge. I tried to take a bunch of my stuff with me, but you know how it is…you never have everything you need. My studio at home is 12’x11’ and I use every inch of it. There, I was “working out of a box”. The biggest obstacle though was the fact that I had no internet access! Ouch! Thank God for my iPhone or I would have been totally out of touch.
Gotta love the irony of it all though….February was the busiest my business has been in a long time. Lots of orders coming from several different venues. Which is why my shop has been a bit…well, shall we say…on the empty side lately. I’m trying to fix that though. Four new items were listed today and more to come this week. Here’s a little preview of what’s new…

Of course, there are other books in my Etsy shop too. Be sure to stop by and check them out.
Your time is limited,
so don’t waste it
living someone else’s life.
Don’t be trapped by dogma
– which is living with the results
of other people’s thinking.
Don’t let the noise
of other’s opinions
drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.

I’ve come across this quote a couple of times today…so I think maybe it’s trying to tell me something. It’s one of my favorite quotes so chances are I’ve probably already used it as a “so inspired” but oh well. It is definitely worth repeating. The word COURAGE kind of popped out at me this time when I read it, since COURAGE is my word-of-the-year this year. Funny how I’ve read the quote hundreds of times and didn’t really focus on the word before. A little “law of attraction” at work perhaps?!
I’m working on a new book tonight that is a little different than my usual books. Here’s a sneak peek!
Kinda running out of steam though (it’s been a really long day) so it probably won’t show up in my Etsy shop till tomorrow night. Maybe I spent a little too much time tonight on Pinterest (follow me here!) and watching the Bulls. :)
Speaking of Pinterest…are you addicted yet? OMG, I keep finding things that I want to make, or eat, or places to visit, or things to make…did I say MAKE?! The paper “stuff” is my favorite, of course! Beautiful art journals and really, all things paper. Love, love, love. There are such talented people out there. I’m soooo jealous! Wouldn’t it be fun to spend all day…every day, making things from paper? I don’t think I’d ever get bored if I could have an endless supply of paper, embellishments and paint. Total heaven! :)
If you could spend all day doing something you loved…what would it be?
Now
a soft kiss -
Aye,
by that kiss,
I vow
an endless bliss.

Bliss – Love – Paper Bag Scrapbook
I fell in love with this line of scrapbook paper from Authentique. It’s called Uncommon.
It reminds me of the old fabrics and wallpapers from my grandma’s era. I thought it would be a perfect backdrop for the Valentine-ish bingo cards that have been sitting in my stash for awhile. The muted reds, soft pinks and greys are even more beautiful in person. My camera didn’t capture the tones quite as well as I had hoped (okay…I know…I was the one operating the camera! Oops!).
The pom pom trim is one of my favorites…just had to sneak in a little bit on this scrapbook!

I also love these little kraft tags from Maya Road! The contrasting color adds a little punch and variety to the otherwise girlie album.
The little metal heart with wings brad has been hiding in my stash for a really long time too. It came in a monthly kit from Memory Works…years ago! I don’t remember what company it is from but I think it found a perfect home in this book.
Enjoy your Sunday!
I know, I know…when you go to Disney you have way more photos than what will fit in this book…but how fun is it to have a “little” keepsake like this sitting on your desk or coffee table just to remind you of all the fun?
Ok…I’ll fess up. I played the saxophone when I was young. Didn’t quite make it long enough to be in the marching band though. It’s probably a good thing though because I had enough trouble playing while seated! :(
I love the bright colors in this book! I included lots of spaces to write about those dreams too!
Have a happy Monday!
