A cold winter night…
It’s a cold, snowy night here in Illinois so it seemed the perfect time to pull out a photo from November of St. Pete’s Beach. I wish I was back there right now enjoying a nap again in the warm sunshine with a light breeze and the sound of waves hitting the beach. Oh…and the sand between my toes. I LOVE the beach…..SO much better than shoveling snow and scraping ice off my car windows after work.
One of my goals this year is to travel someplace (preferably “new”) every month. So for January that trip was to Birmingham, AL for my daughter’s grad school interview. I had never been to Birmingham…or Alabama for that matter…before and I must say it made quite the impression. We had just crossed the border when traffic on I-65 came to a halt. Long story short…we sat on a 10 mile stretch of highway for over 8 hours. Yep…EIGHT hours! The culprit? Snow and ice. I never did hear exactly how much they got but it seriously had to be less than an inch of snow. The highway was a sheet of ice and we either sat still or barely inched along from about 2:30 till 10:30 or 11pm. It was crazy. Thankfully we had cell phones (and each other, of course) to keep us busy. I had joked when we left town that we were going to have “quantity” time together…oh, I had no idea! We left that morning from Carbondale and what should have taken us 6 hours to get to Birmingham took 16 hours. It was the first time in my life that I wished I was traveling in an RV! Once the drama of the arrival into Birmingham ended, we enjoyed ourselves. It’s a beautiful city and as we were leaving we wished we would have had more time to explore it. Next time, I just hope it’s warmer!

A brand new year!
I know, we’re almost a week into the new year already but I, for one, am still celebrating the fact that we’ve flipped the calendar from 2012 to 2013! Hooray!
2012 was a bit of a crazy ride. Definitely a life-changing year. You can probably tell from my lack of posts that the last few months have been busy. I’m not going to go back and re-cap the year…but the one bit of exciting news from the past few months is that I have just moved into a new house! I’ve been in it now for about 5 weeks and I can finally say that I’m pretty much settled. I still have a couple of rooms to paint and lots of decorating left to do but the boxes have all been emptied and I can actually find the things that I need for day-to-day living (a bigger deal than you’d think!). It’s been about 14 years since I’ve moved into a new house…the longest we had ever lived in one place…but this time is a totally fresh start. This is the first time that I haven’t had to decorate around other people. This time it’s all about the things I want to surround me. And, to be honest…I’m not sure how I ever decorated a house before Pinterest! I’ve always been pretty good at visualizing how things are going to look but wow…with Pinterest it is so much more fun! Don’t you agree?
I thought my scrapbook studio was going to be the first room to get a re-do…but actually I’ve done nothing to it…yet. It is, however, the next room on my list. Needless to say I haven’t been doing much scrapbooking either…but I’m starting to get back into it. Today I thought I’d take a break from painting doors and climbing ladders and put together a couple of books. I’ve just listed them in my etsy shop but of course I wanted to share them with you too…

It felt good to crank out a few new books. I can’t wait till my new studio is done and organized so all my supplies are easily accessible again!
Have a great week!

Let’s Scrapbook…
Life has been a little crazy lately and I’ve been too busy to get much scrapbooking done…but hopefully that is changing very soon. Lately my life has consisted of work, packing and very little sleep. BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel. This weekend will be the END of packing/unpacking…at least for a while I hope!
Last weekend I did something I swore I wasn’t going to do….attend my high school class reunion. I won’t go into how many years it’s been since graduation, but I will admit that none of us had yet heard the term “boy band”! Ha! Considering all that’s been going on in my life this year, I wasn’t sure I was up for a class reunion but I am so glad I put on my brave girl panties, tossed aside any expectations and decided to just go. It was so much fun and exactly what I needed…lots of laughs, lots of funny stories…and even a few old boyfriends. Can’t beat that! It didn’t occur to me until later however…that I did not take ONE picture while I was there. You’d think as much as I LOVE to scrapbook, I would take more pictures…but a photographer I am NOT! Oh well…I suppose that’s why I make “blank” scrapbooks! :)
I’m looking forward to getting back to some heavy duty scrapbooking over the next few weeks, but for now here are a few recent additions to my Etsy shop…
