First Day of School…

First Grade 1

First Grade Paper Bag Scrapbook

Summer is over here….school starts tomorrow!  It seems like a lifetime ago that my kids were in 1st grade.  Maybe one of these days I’ll dig out the photos and put them in one of these books for them.  I sure wish scrapbooking would have been popular back when my kiddos were little.  It’s so much easier to “scrap as you go” than go back almost 20 years and catch up!  Ha!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game Scrapbook

If you know me, you know I’m NOT a big baseball fan.  It’s basketball all the way for me…but today seems to be an appropriate day for this book.  I spent some time with my Dad today for his birthday and the Cardinals game was on (not sure my Dad noticed…he’s a CUBS fan).  Anyway, the Cards game went into 19 innings today.  Wow!  Makes me glad I wasn’t sitting in the stands!

Hello Sunday Morning…

rooftop

The temps in Illinois have dropped dramatically in the past week or so.  Most of the summer we were dancing around the 100 degree mark with unrelenting sunshine but this morning as I’m sitting on my rooftop it’s 63 comfortable degrees and a bit cloudy.  I love hot summer days but this year has been a little over the top so it feels good to get some relief from the sweltering sun.  I’m back to work full time now so I can’t go to the pool anyway…it might as well be cooler out!  :)

Me and ArielleThis weekend is the annual Jamaican festival in our downtown area.  The weather couldn’t have been more perfect yesterday and last night.  And, I got to hang out with some of my favorite people…including one of my birthday girls!

My girls turn 21 on Tuesday.  Can’t believe that much time has passed since I brought those tiny little babies home from the hospital.

Twin #2 arrives home today from spending the summer in Houston.  Can’t wait to see her!  It kinda makes me sad that this is their last year of college…and their last year of living close-by.  Of course, if I move close to a beach, Arielle will live with me forever!  Ha!

I know most people mark the end of summer on Labor Day but this weekend is definitely feeling like the end of summer to me.  The combination of cooler weather and all the college students starting to show up around campus…including the football boys running drills every morning now…makes it feel like summer is over.  Classes don’t start yet for another week but this week is a major “prep week”.  It will be great to have all faculty and staff back again.  It’s way too quiet around campus in the summer!

What are you doing to make the most of your last days of summer?

Back to School…already?!

Kindergarten Kid 1

Kindergarten Kid Paper Bag Scrapbook

Can you believe it’s that time already?  I am shocked at how quickly this summer flew by.  And also amazed at how quickly the school supplies are disappearing from the stores.  This is the LAST year I will have “back-to-schoolers”…although college seniors are hardly typical “back-to-schoolers”.  I must admit, back-to-school was much more fun when it involved a new box of crayons!  Oh, how I miss that smell!  :)

Friends {Boys and Their Toys} Paper Bag Scrapbook

Our household was divided between the pink frills of twin girls and the primary colors of a boy.  I think red and blue will forever remind me of Spiderman…but the trucks and playgrounds are definitely a part of boyhood too!   Just think of the fun childhood memories this scrapbook would hold!

Sweet Sixteen 1

Sweet 16 Birthday Paper Bag Scrapbook

August is birthday month around here.  My girls will be hitting a milestone birthday this year…but it’s not 16!  They will be 21 in just over a week. TWENT-ONE!  Wow! It seems like yesterday though that they were eagerly anticipating turning 16 so they could drive!  Times change quickly.  :)
